I'm quite happy with my decision to purchase TS4 I've gotten my money's worth in entertainment and the free patch content are just added bonuses.James Marion Sims (January 25, 1813 – November 13, 1883) was an American physician in the field of surgery, known as the "father of modern gynecology" – but also as a controversial figure, due to the ethical questions raised by how he developed his techniques. I pay for the things I want and am able to afford, and I pass on the things I don't think are worth the money (like Store content in TS3). No one's twisting my arm to pay for these games. I think it's a bit silly to talk about "trust," like EA is a friend or person or disparage their attempts to monetize the game, as if that isn't exactly what keeps them in business and making more games. I agree with you that EA doesn't "owe" anyone anything. Re: robots/Plumbot/whatever the TS4 equivalent might be, I do think it's more likely that we would see a more fleshed out game pack or expansion pack to add not only the new occult state but the related objects, lots, etc. It was more in response to swatlord's continued skepticism about getting free content in updates after being given the list of all the free content TS4 has added thus far. My comment wasn't about the issue of robots, or anything really in particular. You could run a photography studio and sell your photos. Or you could sell exclusively gnomes, or just pairs of underwear or a bakery, or fish or toilet paper.
You can make a death store where you kill sims and then sell their urns to other people. You can make a store that sells anything, not just crafted items. Then it includes the features of open for business which is a huge favourite of everyone. It looks 1000 times better than the Ambitions system with solo firefighters and the almost impossible architect career.
Or you can just play it as a normal career and not follow your sim. There are actual co-workers working alongside you. The three new careers are basic ones from the other games but actually fleshed out, there is hours of possibility there and it looks like they are done incredibly well. If you play as an alien not only do you get to design yourself you also design a flesh mask for you to hide in so no-one knows you're an alien. Aliens with new designs, new interactions and for the first time we get to actually see the Alien home world. It is so much more than that, to me it seems like an incredibly well rounded expansion pack with some amazing new gameplay options included.

It's a great start to the series of EPs to come, but I don't think it will be the greatest expansion in the entire series. I'm also disappointed that sims won't be using the cash register to check out customers (Simguru Azure confirmed they'll be using the tablet exclusively for that, and the cash registers will be something you click on to set things like prices and store hours), that you don't have the option to visit the hospital when you are sick (you have to buy medicine online), and that you can't turn aliens off (they are very cool, and I don't mind the abductions but I'm not crazy about aliens walking into my retail shop like in Simguru Graham's demo).

I am pretty impressed with the other careers as well, plus the baking and photography skills! I am disappointed, however, with the fact that there are only 4 regular lots returning (you can't visit the career lots if you don't work there, and Sixam is a hidden and non-editable lot). I am SO excited that retail stores are coming back and the doctor career looks really fun.
